Investigation of Flow Pattern around Rectangular and Oblong Piers with collar Located in a 180o Sharp Bend

Flow in river bends is associated with generation of secondary flows that leads to a rather complicated flow pattern around bridge piers located the bend. In this study, patterns rectangular and oblong models collar at 90o angle 180-degree sharp bend an experimental plume were investigated. The 3D velocity data collected using Vectrino velocimeter. results indicated presence pier caused more intense deviation streamlines towards outer bank Furthermore, installation pier, maximum power angular decreased, respectively, by 35% 45% comparison pier. addition, it was found turbulence kinetic energy two not significantly different, but installing region high values formed 90° near inner bank.
